thin mist veils the peak high,
thick incense stirs my dream;
yiwu's ink paints the xiang and the xiao.
the southern water blue,
who is there, and why not stop my oar?
the wind feels so brisk,
the rain seems to pour.
where is my hometown?
i ask the flute and hsiao.
lo, the clouds float to soar,
touched with the afterglow,
her dress the best, ne'er more.
as i leave, a scent drifts to the fore,
as if i have a walk by a pool,
smiling at someone's sore.
i raise my head to look,
my solitude blends with things of yore.
i sigh o'er west wall,
the moon glows, dimly hoar.
the willow speechless, the pond lotuses blow.
drunk, i can sleep no more,
for long i sit alone, with autumn hue before.
